Environmental Issues

Springstep dairy is committed to looking after the wellfare of the environment and of you, our customers. For this reason, Springstep have endeavoured to maintain the natural ecology of Mundon Hall Farm and the surrounding area, while providing the very best care for our animals.

Regulatory Bodies
  • Springstep Dairy is independently monitored under the Farm Assurance and Welfare Code.
  • Every batch of Springstep Milk is independently tested by an acredited laboratory for impurities, antibiotics and contamination.
  • Antibiotic use at Springstep Dairy is carefully monitored to ensure that our milk is not contaminated. We adopt the standard used by organic farmers concerning the number of days milk from a treated animal is withdrawn after treatment has finished. We do not give antibiotics to animals who do not need them.

Ecology
  • Over the last 12 years, we at Mundon Hall Farm have planted 10 acres of trees, to replenish the atmosphere.
  • Three ponds around the farm have been cleaned and restored encouraging fish and other wildlife to colonise them.
  • Full fat hard cheese (cheddar style), sold smoked or unsmoked.
  • Our crops are regularly ploughed and rotated, so we use the minimum of chemical sprays, lowering the number of chemicals in the food chain.
  • All pasteurising, processing and packaging of our products takes place on site at Springstep Dairy, so our food miles are incredibly low. Thus, we use far less fuel than most large retailers.
  • Our pest control methods are humane and environmentally friendly. Timed, daylight-activated bird scarers and the occasional scarecrow help us to protect our crop.
